‘One laptop per teacher’

Ministry of Education plans to start a project called ‘One laptop per teacher’, which aims at all the teachers working under the Ministry of Education owning a laptop.

Under this project, teachers will be able to purchase laptops at a price which is lower than the market price. A time period of two or three years will be given for the teachers to pay the price of the laptop. No interest will be taken for the loan. Preparations are underway to begin this project.

The main aim of this program is to make teaching process as interesting as possible and also to give easy access of technology to teachers. Training will also be provided in this field to the teachers who require it.

It should also be noted that in a speech given at a function held at the Kaafu Atoll Education Centre on the 25th of June, Minister of Education, Dr. Mustafa Lutfi spoke about the importance of Information Technology based teaching. This project of providing a laptop for teachers will be very helpful in making the teaching process modern and in line with the present technology.
