Letter of Intent signed between Maldives and EGSIAD

A letter of Intent was signed this morning between the government of Maldives and EGSIAD, an organization from Turkey, this morning. The letter was signed at a meeting held at the Ministry of Education. Minister of Education Dr. Mustafa Lutfi signed on behalf of the Maldivian government and by the President of EGSIAD Mr. Erdogan Ercan on behalf of EGSIAD. Both the concerned parties held discussions and came to the conclusion that there was a need to facilitate policies favorable to achieving the educational goals of the Maldivian government especially with regard to the provision of single-session schooling and provision of excellent reading facilities.

The letter agrees that EGSIAD will assist in providing 10 classrooms in order to facilitate single-session schooling in atoll schools, the development of library facilities in 10 schools and the provision of 10 scholarships in Turkish universities for appropriately qualified Maldivian students.

Minister of State for Education Dr. Ahmed Ali Manik, Deputy Ministers of Education Mrs. Shifa Mohamed and Dr. Abdullah Nazeer, Deputy Speaker and Vice President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mr. Nevzat Pakdil and senior officials of the Ministry of Education and the Turkish delegation attended the meeting.
