I-Radio services to begin in Maldives

Preparations to begin I-Radio services are now in progress. In a meeting held last year by the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), it was decided that I-Radio services would begin in the Maldives in December of 2009. Yesterday, an expert from CEMCA gave a demonstration to the Minister of Education Dr. Mustafa Lutfi and some other senior officials of the Ministry on how the I-Radio works. It has also been arranged for a technical team from CEMCA to come to Maldives in June to complete the necessary procedures.

The main use of an I-Radio is for the people who are concerned in the educational sector, like students, parents, teachers and others to communicate in an interactive form in an academic environment. The best thing about the I-Radio is that the people who use this service can have access to it from anywhere and at any time. Discussions are also in progress to include some entertainment programs in the I-Radio services.
