Courses to be conducted in the Upper North Province inaugurated

Pre-school teacher training courses which will be conducted in the Upper North Province were inaugurated by the Minister of Education Dr. Mustafa Lutfi. In his inauguration speech, the Minister spoke about the importance of having fully trained teachers in the pre-school section. He also said that as every pre-school teacher should have a diploma level certificate; preparations are underway to begin a course of this level for pre-school teachers.

Minister Dr. Mustafa Lutfi and the Deputy Minister Mrs. Shifa Mohamed also visited 13 schools from 12 islands and held discussions about the present education policies with the school board, PTA members, teachers and parents. The Minister also held discussions in 12 schools of this province regarding the changes which need to be brought in the curriculum presently in use. These discussions which were held with the school boards, PTA members, teachers, parents and students were conducted with the assistance of a British consultant team who was with the Minister.

A meeting was also held with the school board, PTA, senior management staff and some teachers of Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi Afeefuddeen School about giving the school to be run under a public private partnership program.

Minister and the team returned to Male’ yesterday after concluding the trip.
