Certificate giving ceremony for the participants of Workshop for Leading Teachers on Child Friendly Active Learning held



Certificates were awarded to the participants of Workshop for Leading Teachers on Child Friendly Active Learning in a ceremony held at the Kaafu Atoll Education Centre on the 25th of this month. The five day workshop was held for the leading teachers of Meemu, Vaavu, Kaafu, Alif Alif and Alif Dhaal atoll. This workshop is one of a series of workshops which are being conducted under the Professional Development program of Centre for Continuing Education in the atolls.
Certificates were distributed to the participants by the Chief-guest of the ceremony; Minister of Education, Dr. Mustafa Lutfi. In the speech given at the ceremony, the Minister spoke about the importance of following the Education Ministry’s slogan for this year: PAT. PAT stands for Positive Visible change, Accountability and Target.
Dr. Mustafa Lutfi also highlighted about some new projects which are in the process of commencing in the near future. In speaking about these projects, the Minister explained about the Information Technology based teaching which is in planning to be started with the aid of the Indian government and also the I-Radio program which would be commenced before December of this year. The Minister further explained the registration or licensing of the teachers which would begin next year. Under this program each and every teacher working under the Ministry of Education would be registered in the Ministry of Education and given a license to teach. When the time comes for the teacher to renew the license, it would be checked whether the teacher has completed at least 15 hours of in-service training within every year and also whether the teacher contributed actively in at least one activity of the school other than teaching. The Minister also explained that from the beginning of the coming year, each and every teacher would be given three day’s in-service training.
33 participants from 29 islands participated in the 53 hour workshop which was held from the 20th to the 25th of this month.
