Draft National Curriculum Framework Open for Comment
10 March 2010
Every individual can now have their say on the shape of the school curriculum for the future. The draft National Curriculum Framework prepared by the Educational Development Centre is being made publicly available for comment on EDC’s curriculum blog (http://nationalcurriculumreform.blogspot.com). The different sections of the framework document are being regularly posted on the blog, and everyone is encouraged to read and comment on the draft at this stage.

The proposed curriculum framework, which would be applicable to all schools in Maldives from kindergarten to the end of higher secondary, addresses three main questions: what needs to be achieved; how learning should be organized; and how its impact can be evaluated.

The draft document has been developed by the curriculum team at EDC, after wide consultations across the nation and with the guidance of international curriculum experts. While work on the document is still on-going, the comments received at this stage will help to refine it.

It is expected that the National Curriculum Framework will be formally endorsed by the cabinet by mid 2010.
