Ministry of Education has awarded the bids to construct new buildings at HA. Atoll School and HA. Vashafaru School.
On behalf of MoE, Deputy Minister Ibrahim ismail signed the Memorandums of Understanding at the ceremony held today afternoon at the Ministry.
The bid to build a hall at HA. Atoll School was awarded to Swift Engineering and the Managing Director Saudulla Hilmy signed on behalf of the company.
The project to construct four classrooms and a computer lab at Vashafaru School was given to a private contractor Ibrahim Rasheed of HA. Dhidhoo.
Speaking at today’s ceremony, Deputy Minister Ibrahim Ismail said that, one of the most important preferences of the government is to ensure quality education be available in the atolls and that these new additions to the schools will make sure that this will be delivered and the opportunity to gain experience from different fields will be provided to the students.
“These two projects shall be finished by the end of next year’s second semester and students will be able to use these premises”, He said. Also he stated that once the students are able to use these classrooms and computer lab at Vashafaru School, the current concern of shortage of space will be eliminated.
Under the MoU, HA. Atoll School’s construction work should be completed within a year, while for Vashafaru School, it should be completed within 11 months.
Cost of the bid awarded to Swift Engineering is MVR 7,606,988.15 (seven million six hundred and six thousand nine hundred and eighty eight Rufiyaa fifteen Laari). The cost of building for Vashafaru School is 3,231,688.15(three million two hundred and thirty one thousand and six hundred and eighty eight Rufiyaa and fifteen Laari.)
