Non-government Organization, Maldives Red Crescent has presented a plaque of appreciation to Ministry of Education in recognition of the humanitarian services rendered by the Ministry.
At an event held today afternoon, the plaque was handed over to the Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham by the vice president of Maldives Red Crescent Society Ms Naushan Abdul Muhaimin.
Speaking to the Media after accepting the plaque, Education Minister Aishath Shiham noted that, Maldivian Red Crescent is a partner of Ministry of Education in providing a safe environment at schools.
“It is our thinking to work hand in hand with the NGOs. In this regard, we would like to note the support that MRC gives Ministry of Education in the matters of students’ safety.” She said. She highlighted the significance of the students’ safety and welfare issues to the Ministry and thanked MRC for its continous support.
Speaking during the function, Vice President of MRC, Naushan said that this plaque has been awarded in association with Maldivian Red Crescent’s sixth Anniversary and given to the ministry in appreciation for the philanthropic services rendered to make up for a benevolent society. She also noted the support and the good relationship Ministry has with MRC.
“We would like to specially highlight the support given to us for our humanitarian work by the Ministry”, She stated. She also said that in cooperation with the Ministry, currently MRC is working on an Emergency operational plan for the safety of Students while at schools.
She further added that under the Violence Prevention Project, MRC is training and conducting awareness programs to teachers about students’ safety and wellbeing issues.
