WHO donates hand washing stations and disinfectants to the Ministry of Education

WHO has donated hand washing stations and disinfectants to the Ministry of Education to contribute in their effort to ensure the safety of students in the new normal.

In a ceremony held today at the Ministry of Education, these hand washing facilities were handed over to the Ministry by the WHO representative to the Maldives, Dr. Arvind Mathur and it was received by the Minister of education Dr. Aishath Ali.

Speaking at the ceremony Minister Dr. Aishath Ali expressed gratitude towards WHO for their continued support. She thanked WHO for providing PPE and cleaning supplies at the time of school opening as well as for the timely support in conducting training sessions for support staff in cleaning and disinfecting schools. She also noted that today’s contribution by WHO will be very useful for the Ministry’s mission in improving and promoting hand hygiene of students.

The hand washing stations are portable and will be distributed to schools in the islands where there is the most need to it.

WHO has been guiding Ministry of education in organizing school health and heath promoting programs in schools.
